Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 2, 2026
TheRandomEngine ("we", "us", "this site") provides free, no-signup random generators: random numbers, passwords, names, QR codes, lorem ipsum, dice, coin flips, and UUIDs. We built this policy to plainly explain what little data is involved in using it, since there is no account system and nothing you generate is ever saved on our end.
1. What we don't collect
There is no sign-up, login, or user account anywhere on this site. We do not ask for your name, email address, or any personal profile information. Each generator (random numbers, passwords, names, QR codes, lorem ipsum, dice, coin flips, UUIDs) runs a one-off, client-requested computation and returns the result to you; inputs and outputs are not stored, logged against your identity, or retained after the response is sent. Generated passwords, in particular, are never transmitted anywhere for storage.
2. Cookies and similar technologies
We use a cookie consent banner with three categories, matching the choices you're offered when you visit:
- Necessary: required for the site to function (e.g. remembering your theme preference and your cookie consent choice itself). Always on, and not something we ask permission for since the site can't work without it.
- Analytics: helps us understand aggregate usage (e.g. which generators are popular, roughly how many visits a page gets) via Google Analytics 4, using Google's Consent Mode v2. Analytics scripts are only loaded after you opt in; nothing is loaded beforehand.
- Advertising: reserved for potential future relevant-advertising signals. No advertising cookies are set unless you opt in, and none are currently in active use.
You can change your choice at any time using the "Cookie settings" link in the site footer.
Your decision is stored locally in your browser (via localStorage),
not on our servers, and only affects this site.
3. Standard web analytics
If you consent to Analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics 4 to collect standard, aggregate usage analytics: pages viewed, approximate location (country/region level), device/browser type, and referral source. This helps us understand which generators are useful and where the site can be improved. If you don't consent, no analytics script is loaded and no analytics data is collected about your visit.
4. Server logs
Like virtually any web server, our hosting infrastructure keeps short-lived technical logs (such as IP address, timestamp, and requested URL) for security, abuse prevention, and troubleshooting purposes. These logs are not used to build a profile of you and are not shared with third parties beyond what's necessary to operate the service.
5. We do not sell your data
We do not sell, rent, or trade any data collected through this site to third parties. Analytics data (once you've consented) is processed by Google Analytics under Google's own privacy terms, solely for the aggregate usage insight described above.
6. Your rights
Because we don't operate accounts or store personal profiles, there is generally no personal data of yours held on our servers to access, correct, or delete. For any Analytics cookies you've consented to, you can withdraw consent at any time via "Cookie settings" in the footer, and clearing your browser's local storage and cookies for this site removes your stored consent choice and any locally-remembered preferences.
7. Children's privacy
This site is a general-audience utility site and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and given the site requires no sign-up, none is knowingly collected from anyone.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as the site evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
